What is IP warming?

A new sending IP address has no history. Mail providers are therefore cautious, and sending a lot at once looks exactly like spam.

What it means

You raise your volume gradually over several weeks instead of starting with a full send. That builds a positive history.

Start with your best contacts

Send first to the people who genuinely open and click. Their positive responses build your reputation. Your inactive contacts come last, or not at all.

Increase steadily

Doubling daily is a common starting point. But watch your bounces and complaints above all: if they rise, slow down rather than pressing on.

Stay consistent

One send a week and then nothing for a month undoes the work. Regularity matters as much as volume.

When you do not need it

On a shared address with an established reputation this is not your problem. That is precisely the point of shared infrastructure for smaller volumes.
