Your email in dark mode
A growing share of recipients read in dark mode. Mail clients then invert colours, sometimes clumsily.
What breaks most often
A black logo on a transparent background becomes invisible. Dark text on a block the client did not invert becomes unreadable. And borders disappear.
What works
Logos with an outline or a light version, enough contrast both ways, and no dark text on a hard-coded very light background.
Watch out for transparency
A transparent PNG takes on the background colour. In dark mode that background turns black, and your black logo vanishes.
Do not fight it
You do not fully control the rendering. Aim for a message that stays readable in both modes rather than perfect in one.
Test it
Send yourself the campaign and look at it on a phone in dark mode. It is a thirty-second check almost nobody does.
