How often should you send a newsletter?
There is no right number, but there are wrong patterns. Three questions beat a rule.
Do you have something to say?
A monthly send with no real content is worse than nothing. The rhythm should follow what you have, not a calendar.
What did you promise?
If you said monthly at sign-up, sending weekly breaks that agreement — and that shows up as spam reports.
Are you consistent?
Three sends in one week and then nothing for six months is the worst pattern. Your recipients forget you, and so do the mail providers.
What your numbers say
A rise in unsubscribes after increasing frequency is a clear answer. A fall in clicks without a rise in unsubscribes means the content, not the frequency, is the problem.
Offer a choice
An option to receive less often keeps contacts who would otherwise have unsubscribed entirely.
